Organizers are calling on the community once again to support the 3rd annual Back-2-School Bash at Elizabethton High School. Each year, sponsors and partners have made this event possible by sponsoring 1,000 backpacks full of school supplies and participating in the event.
“We have been able to give away 1,000 backpacks full of school supplies each year to local students, and we hope to reach that goal again this year with your help,” said Bekah Price, an event organizer. “This event allows students to start the school year on the right foot, and we are extremely grateful to all who have helped make it possible over the years.”
The event will take place on Saturday, Aug. 4 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Elizabethton High School stadium. It is open to all families in and around Elizabethton, and everything is free. The event will include 1,000 backpacks full of school supplies, inflatables, obstacle courses, lunch, haircuts, health and education resources, giveaway items, and back to school information direct from principals and teachers.
Backpacks average $16 each, and the goal is to provide 1,000 total. Sponsors are recognized in a variety of locations based on sponsorship level and may include mention on billboard, banner at event, news releases, promotional materials, ECS website and social media. All sponsors will also receive a Proud Sponsor window cling. Donations must be received by July 1.
Space is available for community organizations to have tables at the event. Space is limited to organizations providing family services (health, education, community service and advocacy organizations, etc.) as well as businesses bringing school supplies to give away. Those interested should complete the online application (link below).
Event organizers include Elizabethton City Schools, East River Park Christian Church, Elizabethton Police Department and Carter County Health Department. Contact information is below.
