Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) partnering with EHS to better education

Posted On: Monday, September 9, 2019

Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) visited Elizabethton High School today to inform students about some of the changes in the school to better their education. A few examples is the commons transformation- where students can make presentations to enhance their communication skills, more project based learning, new passion based 4th period classes, and Senior Capstone Class partnering with Milligan to help students with a successful transition to college and the workforce. The next phase is the Virtual Reality and STEM Lab where ECS partnered with FESTO and TCAT of Elizabethton. The MIT has only partnered with 4 schools in the Nation and asked to partner with ECS because they believe in our vision. They promote project based learning to encourage critical thinking and good communication skills. Alice Liao and Alex Hargroder both spoke to students about their future goals and great tips for college. They interacted with students by writing on post it notes about their responses to each question to encourage critical thinking. Thank you MIT and Alex Campbell for the opportunity to help students be more prepared for their future.
